PhD Opportunity in Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions – Canada

The Functional Genomics of Plant Pathosystems Laboratory at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (UQTR) is now inviting applications from international students for a fully funded PhD position starting in 2025.

This is a unique chance to join a dynamic, research-driven institution in Quebec, Canada, and to work in the lab of Dr. Hugo Germain, exploring cutting-edge questions in molecular plant-microbe interactions and fundamental plant cell biology, with a particular focus on the nuclear pore complex and ribosomes.

📚 Program: PhD in Plant Molecular Biology / Cell Biology
💰 Funding: CAD $20,000–$25,000/year for 3 years (via FRQNT)

🔬 Eligibility:

  • Master’s degree (completed or nearing completion)

  • Strong academic record and research experience

  • International applicants welcome; priority given to students from Wallonia (Belgium), Israel, Brazil, and India

  • Candidates from minority backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by August 2025 and invited to submit a formal fellowship application for FRQNT funding. Results will be announced in April 2026. Applicants with independent funding (full or partial) are also welcome.
