We are thrilled to invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Carella Group at the internationally acclaimed John Innes Centre in Norwich, UK. Join us in pioneering new directions in Synthetic Inter-Kingdom Immunity and help shape the future of plant and microbial science.
🔍 About the Role:
This exciting project, led by Dr. Phil Carella, aims to unlock the evolutionary diversity of immune modules to engineer enhanced immunity in plants—primarily using Nicotiana benthamiana as a synthetic platform. You will engage with both evolutionary and molecular biology, using comparative and synthetic biology approaches, and perform infection assays with diverse plant pathogens.
🧬 Your research will contribute to a growing field that bridges evolutionary molecular plant-microbe interactions (Evo-MPMI) and synthetic biology, offering an exceptional platform for career development.
📌 Position Details:
- Role: Postdoctoral Researcher
- Salary: £36,720 – £39,750 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)
- Contract: Full-time, until 31 July 2027
