The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher (Research Associate) to join the Parallel Computing and Optimization Group (PCOG) and contribute to an ambitious national research programme on technical standardization and sustainability across ICT, construction, and aerospace sectors.
This position is part of a strategic collaboration with ILNAS (Luxembourg Institute of Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety, and Quality of Products and Services) and supports Luxembourg’s National Technical Standardisation Strategy 2024–2030.
🔍 Your Role
- Conduct cutting-edge research in search, optimization, metaheuristics, and machine learning for sustainable innovation
- Supervise and mentor PhD students across interconnected projects (quantum optimization, sustainable construction, space technologies)
- Actively engage in technical standardization committees relevant to the project
- Coordinate workshops, publish in top venues, and represent UL in international forums
- Support grant writing and project development
- Contribute to teaching and public engagement
🎓 Your Profile
- PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related fields
- Expertise in exact/approximate optimization methods, metaheuristics, and/or machine learning
- Demonstrated success in project management and research proposal writing
- Familiarity with sustainability-driven research or standardization practices
- Excellent English communication skills (French, German, or Luxembourgish not required)
- Creativity, curiosity, and a team-oriented mindset
