The UCLA La Kretz Center invites early-career scientists to apply for the prestigious 2026 Postdoctoral Fellowship in California Conservation Science. This two-year fellowship supports innovative research at the interface of basic and applied conservation biology across Californiaโs diverse ecosystems.
๐ฌ About the Fellowship
We seek creative, solutions-focused researchers addressing the protection, restoration, and management of Californiaโs at-risk species and ecosystems. Proposals may span ecology, evolution, genomics, behavior, or climate adaptation โ as long as they demonstrate strong academic merit and real-world conservation impact.
โ Eligibility
- Ph.D. completed before the start date
- Strong track record of research and conservation interest
- Project must be co-developed with:
- A UCLA La Kretz Center affiliate mentor list here
- An off-campus conservation partner (agency/NGO in California)
๐ก Examples of off-campus partners include:
- The Nature Conservancy (Sophie Parker)
- National Park Service (Katy Delaney, Seth Riley)
- USGS, USFWS, BLM, Department of Defense, LA Natural History Museum, and others
