Sandia National Laboratories invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Compound Semiconductor Microelectronics team. This position is an opportunity to drive forward cutting-edge III-V semiconductor research in support of national security applications.

πŸ”¬ Your Role & Responsibilities
You will:

  • Design, fabricate, and characterize microelectronic/optoelectronic devices

  • Conduct hands-on R&D with III-V compound semiconductors (GaAs, InP, GaSb)

  • Lead experimental work in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), process development, and device simulation

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver results from basic research to TRL6 product development

  • Author scientific publications, present findings, and support new business development

  • III-V materials systems: Phosphides, Arsenides, Antimonides

  • Microelectronics: GaAs-based devices

  • Optoelectronics: InP/GaSb photonic systems

  • Technology readiness levels (TRL3–TRL6) development for critical applications

βœ… Required:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related field (earned within the last 5 years)

  • Strong foundation in semiconductor device fabrication, modeling, or characterization

  • U.S. Citizenship (required to obtain a DOE L security clearance)
