Position Overview
National fellowship to support postdocs working in fusion energy and plasma science. Fellows conduct research at DOE facilities on topics such as plasma physics, high-energy density plasmas, and fusion technology.

Duration / Type of Position

  • Full-time postdoctoral fellowship 
  • Typically 2–3 years (depending on project and host lab)

Start Date

  • Applications due January 2026; start dates negotiated with host labs after selection

Supervisor / Contact Person

  • Mentor identified in the host DOE FES project

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant science/engineering field (e.g., physics, plasma physics, nuclear, electrical, mechanical) within 4 years of the deadline 
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated research productivity 
  • Experience in plasma/fusion-related topics
