Position Overview

This PhD explores root immunity and how microbial effectors shape belowground plant–microbe dynamics. The student will use transcriptomics, CRISPR/Cas9, promoter-reporter systems, and advanced microscopy.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify root immune regulators and effector targets 
• Perform plant-pathogen interaction assays 
• Use imaging techniques to observe root immune responses 
• Manage microbial cultures and root infection systems 
• Communicate results via publications and conferences 

Candidate Requirements

• MSc in Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Biotechnology 
• Some experience with molecular biology or CRISPR is desirable 
• Interest in root biology and defence mechanisms
