Position Overview
The laboratory of Dr. Paul Tang, MD, PhD at Mayo Clinic seeks highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to study the biology of donor heart preservation and cardiovascular aging. Research spans from fundamental biology to translational applications, with direct integration into ongoing clinical trials. The lab is a core member of the Mayo Clinic Kogod Aging Center, leveraging exceptional clinical biospecimen resources.
Research Focus
- Molecular phase separation events and their impact on cardiac preservation quality
- Chromatin structure in aging hearts and susceptibility to ischemia
- Plasma membrane processes conferring cardioprotection during ischemia–reperfusion
- Development of novel drug therapeutics to improve cardiac resilience
Candidate Qualifications
- PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, cardiovascular biology, biophysics, immunology, or related field
- Strong experimental and/or computational skills
- Background in immunology is an asset
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Interest in translating basic science discoveries to clinical applications
